If the problem is the modem that is not reporting the connect speed, you could
try the ATW1 initialization.
But I think you mean the entry in the log files, or even with the dialmon
software. I use the connect script shipped with diald-0.16-5. It will report
this speed, which is nothing more than the answer the modem gives when it
connects. I don't have the script right with me, if you need it give me a
"call" and I can send it to you.
