Looks like a 2.0.36 kernel.  dmesg has: "Linux version 2.0.36
([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 2.7.2.3) #1 Tue Oct 13
 22:17:11 EDT 1998" in it.

Thanks for the note!  I'm more interested in stability than being totally
up to date with the latest bleeding-edge versions, so 0.16-5a is OK as it
seems to be working fine with my RH5.2 distribution.  It's still nice to
know why the 0.99 version failed to build though.
