As far as I know there is nothing you can do about it.
This is because the initial packets of a connection are sent to the virtual
diald interface(the default route), when the connection is up, the default
route is set to your new connection. Hence, initial packets will always be
lost and it is up to you, the application, or TCP to attemp to resend the
packets when they get lost.
