I had the same problems. I solved it, going back to the slip proxy solution.
Simply disable the ethertap support by doing
allias tap0 off
allias tap1 off
...
allias tap15 off
in your conf.modules. Diald will then go back to slip proxy, because there's
no ethertap available. There are some other solutions around but it seems
I cleaned up my Mailfolders to thorough ;-)

Hello.. Has anyone found the fix for the above message?? I have RH6 with an
external USR modem on ttyS1 and cant get it to work.. When the computer
inits the modem I get a light flash but the script dies.. I can get to the
modem with minicom..
