There was a five part series in the Embedded PC section of Circuit Cellar
Ink where writer Ingo Cyliax describes doing just that.  It begins with
issue #100 (November 1998) and ends in issue #104 (March 1999).  You can
log on to www.circuitcellar.com to find out about back issues.  The
articles may still available on their FTP site at ftp.circuitcellar.com.
