I've been looking for a similar solution. I haven't found one yet. Most
people seem to be taking these approaches:

1) Boot via BIOS to a supported ATA device
2) SYSLINUX, or similar SH3 or MIPS bootloaders (in the case of WinCE
devices)

Neither work for deeply embeded or custom devices that can't do either
approach. There _are_, however, people who have done real flash based
bootloading out there.

There may be time in the next few months for me to create a real
bootloader of substantial worth using the egcs toolchain and newlib. If
this assignment drops in my lap I'll start in Feburary. I'd also like to
support flash recovery by some network method (currently undefined and a
seconday requirement).

*** If you have and sample code, clues, hints, or experience in this
matter please email me. I'd appreciate it, and it would speed my effort if
I'm authorized to start. ***
