Top doesn't show much of anything going on, the system load is 0. I don't think it's dns or anything because the login prompt has a 30 second delay from when it's run to when it appears on the screen. The first 5 or 7 letters show up then it pauses, then the next 5 or 7 and another pause, and so on, until they're all showing up.
If I turn the irq for the serial port I'm trying to run the getty on to 0, then it works perfectly. Something is wrong with the irq's it seems, but I have no idea what or where to start looking. Strace doesn't show anything out of the ordinary as far as I can see. I can reboot into a full install of RH 6.2 with the exact same kernel (2.4.17) and it works perfectly. Not sure if it matters, but this is based on the current version of LEM, with an upgraded tinylogin and a whole lotta changes to make it run on a read only root filesystem and a ramdisk. n Mon, 4 Mar 2002 16:15:31 -0500 (EST), [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: >Unfortunately no. What's does top show is going on while you are trying to login in from the tty? Is it possible that the systems is trying to do some sort of authentication or reverse DNS or something that is blocking but eventually times out. -- To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the command "unsubscribe linux-embedded" in the message body.
