Thought about that... The logs are kept in ramdisk.  I have tried to mount 
the flash as read-write also, no difference.

Actually I tried the opposite.  I compiled the new tinylogin in RH6.2, 
then copied it to the flash.  When it didn't work I replaced the login 
that RH6.2 uses with the compiled tinylogin.  It worked perfectly.

On the full install of the RH6.2 system.  20 gig hdd on the first ide 
controller, the flash is by itself on the second controller.  I can try 
and update the libraries, but that will probably take a goodly amount of 
time.  


I didn't really want to take the time to brew my own embedded base setup.  
If there's a better one than LEM I'd be open to trying it.
