He won't try, most likely. Most users will wait until their distribution
is shipping both the kernel and all the related tools with it. Debian potato
(2.2) will have kernel 2.2. slink (2.1) is not released but is too far
frozen for anything but a source package of the new kernel. It does have
most (if not all) of the tools required though.
