Try playing with xvidtune. Try pressing "Shorter", "Down", "Test",
"Apply", a few times each in a loop, not necessarily in that order.
If/When you get a good picture, press "Show", and add the modeline
to your XF86Config (probably /etc/X11/XF86Config-4).
