As a totally experimental service, http://mirror.hamakor.org.il/archives/linux-il now has a web archive running of Linux-IL.
What about searching?
1. easier to set up
2. Better in quality
3. Easier to secure
I'll do that when the need arises, and when google starts indexing the pages. I'll also remind you all that nothing about the current service is final, for now.
In addition, the archive at plasma-gate seems toI don't see why, really. It's not that I mind that much, just that I don't see the difference.
be running again. Do we now have 2 archives? I believe that two are better then one.
In any case, emails from this list are now archived on mirror.hamakor.org.il. Whether we actually make them into a web archive, or just archive them and turn them into a web archive if/when the need arises seems like a secondary concern.
The archives go back more or less reliably to March of this year. That's as far back as I had in my Linux-IL folder. If anyone has email dating further back, in either mbox or maildir formats, please send them over. It seems Evgeny's archives are HTML only, and are therefor totally non-portable.
I'm not sure whether the mirror.hamakor archives need more work at the moment. In any case, I'm holding the emails in a mailbox, so that if the need arises, I don't have to beg for old archives again.
