Not to mention that while ADSL may be a standard, that doesn't mean much - to really use it you still need to know what your tunneling protocol is, authentication scheme, etc, etc, etc. And all this before we even begin to talk about different implementations of that "standard" :-)
Ah! at last someone reaches close to my point -
Again, I got the impression that, at least back in the earlier days, not all ADSL modems could be used on Bezeq's network. Does this still hold true? If so - what are the important characteristics to look for when looking for a modem (I'm talking about specs, not "Approved by Bezeq" or a manual list of "known-to-work" models)?
