If you have linux installed on your machine, then there is a
framebuffer howto in the HOWTO's directory which you might wanna have
a look at. But I don't think we can totally do away with graphics
card. I maybe wrong. Framebuffer X server lacks the acceleration (
except for the matroxfb ) and without acceleration , believe me X
sucks big time. I have been with fbdev server since 4 months and It
used tohog my machine like anything ( 35% or resources ) and now I am
on X 4.0 which is smooth, fast and less CPU hogging. with fbdev, I
used to have frequent hangups of X if I ran netscape. Now everything
is smooth. :-)
