If you can run Xwindows ( which i suppose you cannot because of the low
RAM ) then you can use one of the graphical clients available. They are much
eisier to work on the settings and stuff. If you don't have Xwindows, try
using pppd along with chat as mentioned in the ppp howto and man pages.
wvdial has problems sometimes initialising the modem and other stuff on my
modem also.
If I understand you right, you are saying that it runs fine on your FAST PC.
Maybe you'll have to compile the kernel on the slow PC to include the module
etc. for the modem.
