Well I couldn't do it right either ;-) so I was forced to sit and indulge
in some good programming practices and go thru all the code which was
giving errors most of them relate to single quotes and double quote usage. 

NOTE : there is nothing out there which cannot be run of PHP4 after
fixing.

And as a last option I have two httpd.conf and srm.conf along with a small
shell script which take php3 OR php4 as a parameter and then stops httpd,
makes a link to appropriate conf file and starts httpd again.
