What makes  it more impressive  is the  fact that most  of the
Slackware development team (inclusive of Pat V_) got  the sack
just a few weeks ago from their parent employer. "Trimming the
fat" as they call it, in these days of IT glut !

I do not think RH/ Mandrake/ SuSE and other commercial distros
holding the banner of "latest and greatest" aloft would ...

Debian however has this system already since conception with 3
flavours concurrently supported all along ...

This is the *first time*  I have seen Slack offer this kind of 
option though !
