Mutt can handle mbox, maildir (and iirc, mh) folders without problem
$mbox_type is the variable you want.

Why not? :) Procmail 3.15 and above can handle mbox and maildir both. If
not, use some other MDA (say courier IMAP's "maildrop") which does both
filtering and delivery to maildirs, if you want only maildirs.

Good - it's a total memory hog, duplicating the functions of mutt, vim, lynx,
