Ok see below :- poll mail.vsnl.net proto pop3 user amit there with password pwd is amit here; ----------------- 1. I am currently logging as root on the gateway. Does the part of sentence /command "is amit here" means that my mails will be fetched in the user amit even if i have logged in as root at the gateway. Where exactly will my mail file lie. like for root it is /var/spool/mail/root. What in this case ? 2. On the Intranet server , do i have to login as amit or root to see the mails by mail command. Where exactly will my mail lie on the intranet server 3. Is it necessary to login as amit on the intranet server and not root so that the client (win 98) can access the user amit Or , even if i login as root on the intranet machine will my client be able to login as amit. 4. Will a copy of the mail be there on the gateway. --------I guess the answers to the above questions should answer all my queries---------------------- moreover it will clarify to u the track i am follwing.
