Hey Bhasker, It would be better if you shift to ReiserFS rather than Ext3, more stable, expandable and better designed. Please visit the reiserfs site (google for it) and check out the tools they provide.
Regarding upgrading from 2.4.7-10 to 2.4.17, just visit http://www.kernel.org/ download all the *patches* above 2.4.7 upto 2.4.17, put them all in the scripts directory within your linux source, and just run 'patch-kernel' (remember to put all the patches in .gz format, .bz2 would bust up the patch-kernel script) Warm Regards, ~Mayuresh ---------- > Good Linux day everyone, > I have a situation here. > Could anyone tell me how to upgrade to kernel 2.4.17 > with these givens... > > - The RH-7.2 box has kernel-2.4.7-10 on ext3 fs > - I wanna upgrade to 2.4.17 with (or without) ext3 > [Am Fed up with 2.4.7 crashing] > - All is fine except e2fsprogs. here version 1.25 for > RedHat-7.2 (with ext3 support) doesn't seem to be > available. > > Should i revert to ext2? > - how?
