If you are using RedHat just run kudzu and it will locate and setup the driver for you - ofcourse you would have to tell it whether it is on DHCP or not. If you have a static IP then you need to provide IP, gateway, netmask and DNS servers. Otherwise manual configuration will depend on the distribution you are using since the configuration files are not in the same places accross distributions.
