well, do you mean that you are providing internet access to other users
through authentication? if yes, then yahoo messenger does not support
authentication. however, in cvs gaim (0.60), there is support for
sock5/sock6 and http proxy with authentication.

other than that, i'm afraid, not able to help you much because i tried
it on a machine where squid was installed (no authentication required),
and it worked without any hassles.
