I am not an administrator, but I do find these useful for informing my (so-called) admin about stuff, albeit occasionally. Also, if some messages are too much of an eye-sore, you can whip-up a procmail recipe to filter them elsewhere, rather than ask the list admin to stop such messages. Just my view...
