Regarding your a.out problem, an ./a.out instead of a.out should do the
trick (your current directory is not in your PATH variable). Referring to
the problem with Netscape, kppp is probably having a problem looking up
your DNS server. Add the following entry to your /etc/resolv.conf file :
nameserver <IP address of VSNL server for your area>, everything should
work fine.
