Looks like you are using the old IrCOMM code with a new kernel ;-) For
2.3.x and patched 2.2.x kernels IrCOMM got rewritten. Now you have to do
this:

/etc/conf.modules:

# IrDA
alias tty-ldisc-11 irtty
alias char-major-161 ircomm-tty
alias irda-dongle-0 tekram
alias irda-dongle-1 esi

/dev/ircomm0

crw-------    1 dagb     161,   0 Dec 22 14:15 /dev/ircomm0
