Hello,
I also have a nokia (but a 7110) and it didn't work up to now, although
log messages told me "IRDA device registered"...:'(
Would you please be so kind to send me the details of the configuration
you used (mknod, setserial ...). Maybe it could help...
I'm really bad in hardware and I'm sure I made a mistake somewhere:
My chip (on a sony vaio) is the following:
MC FDC37N958FR Controller at 0x370, DevID=0x01, Rev. 1
SIR Base 0x3e8, FIR Base 0x140
IRQ = 10, DMA = 1
Enabled: yes, Suspended: no
UART compatible: yes
Half duplex delay = 3 us
And I created the following devices :
mknod /dev/ircomm c 161 0
mknod /dev/ircomm0 c 161 0
mknod /dev/ircomm1 c 161 1
setserial /dev/ttyS2 irq 10
(here I'm not convinced that it's really catholic...)
# /etc/conf.modules
alias tty-ldisc-11 irtty
alias char-major-161 ircomm-tty
# /etc/irda/drivers
...
'start')
irattach /dev/ttyS2
;;
...
...and still nothing :'(((
