The speed used for IrCOMM _only_ makes sense when there's a UART in the
other end (like a cell phone with modem etc). Changing the speed will change
the speed used by the UART, and doesn't change the speed used for the IrDA 
link in any way. So when you talk between Linux and a Palm, the speed is 
ignored, and the actual speed depends upon what the IrDA devices will 
negotiate usually 57600 or 115200 bps when talking to a Palm.
