How did you delete everything? from the RK proper? using riocp? 
using lkarmafs? directly something such as "rm -r /mnt/karma/*"?

Except in the last case, you can recover the functionality by
just using the script "create_smalldb", which comes in recent hg
versions of libkarma, and then using riocp to upload some files.  
It may be the case that you need to use riocp -b at least once 
(or Rescan Music in the RK proper).  After that, lkarmafs should 
work as usual.

If you removed everything directly (last case), you need first to 
create some directories: 

  mkdir /mnt/karma/{var,fids0,fids0/_00000}

One of these days I'll poste a version of the create_smalldb 
script which creates the needed dirs if necessary...
