On a RH 5.2 linux box:

[root@homer /]# locate /stdio.h
/usr/include/stdio.h
[root@homer /]# rpm -qf /usr/include/stdio.h
glibc-devel-2.0.7-29

The glibc-devel-2.0.7-29 package.

zcat users-guide-1_0_4_tar.gz | tar xvf -

I think zcat (or gzcat) is the same as 'gzip -c'
'gzip -d' uncompresses the file, explaining your
results.

get a multi-serial port card which can share multiple ports on one
irq. i think i recal 4-way and 8-way serial cards in the kernel
configuration.

using internal modems or standard serial port uarts will run you out
of irqs and slots fast.

a bank of external modems connected to the afforementioned multi-port
serial card would be the way to go. you can even get a rack of modems
in one unit. check out multitech for examples.

Hi !

Has everyone of you ever get this combination to work ? I have problems with
the AT commands. The modem dials, gets a connect with my fax maschine and
disconnects without sending any data...

Sometimes Hylafax says something with buffer underrun, but normally, I get
no error messages....

Any hints what to do... ? The modem manual doesnīt help with fax AT
commands... :-( HylaFax runs under a Suse 6.0 System.... The modem is
detected by Hylafax as a Class 2.0 modem. (Serial Speed 38400). Under
Minicom it works perfectly :-\

Please reply to my eMail address, I donīt read these newsgroups...

Thankful for every hint of

go to http://rufus.w3.org/linux/RPM/index.html and click index by

Check into procmail/formail

I missed the first message in the thread, but procmail is a great tool for
filtering mail and formail can do all sorts of things to header (add,
delete, replace etc).

Yep. Its all in the SAMBA configuration.

I have the following lines in mine:

  domain master = yes
  domain logons = yes

My laptop when booted (rarely) into Win95 sees my DEC Alpha Linux box
as being an NT server.

Understandable, I did some work at a site which was all NT last year
and it was incredibly unstable and slow.

Yep, it can do everything that NT can do apart from run Windows programs
directly but as a server SAMBA on any *NIX is better than NT.

Fortran is part of a nightmare period I try to forget.

Mark:

The monitor config is not correct or u have chosen wrong mode of
operation like 1024x780 resolution when ur card does not support that.
When the screen becomes blank, type cntl+alt+backspace, which kills
the X server. U can see the error messages in the screen.
U may try cntl+alt+f1/2/3/4/5/6 for getting the other tty sessions.
U can kill X11 from there also.

The error messages might say, it has deleted the modes u have
selected. That will give an idea. Or post the error messages u get.
Somebody will figure out for u.
