Hi ,
I guess the o/p of the cgi script which is a counter is figuring in
the html o/p
In the html code the cgi script is called
<!-- exec cgi=file -->
the file is executed by the server (I had server parsed html , shtml
enabled in the srm.conf)
the file is parsed and the script is executed and the o/p of the script is
reflected
That is exactly what is happening in your case

Subject: Apache
To Whom,
This was sent to wwwcount, linux-admin, and now to those of you that I
always get an answer.
I've followed every letter to the tee for wwwcount on Linux 2.0.36 for
Red Hat 5.2. I made all the changes in Apache prior to the installation
in access.conf, httpd.conf, and srm.conf. Everything points to the
proper directories. When I pulled up the test page after running the
test file (don't remember the name and don't have it in front of me) the
numbers indicated a one preceded by zeros, but the Count.html didn't
show any _cgi_ in the page even though it was pointed to the correct
ScriptAlias path. When I ran the test file a second time the numbers
showed a two preceded by zeros.
All installations were made in /etc/httpd/Counter and /etc/httpd/cgi-bin
with the installation directory in /etc/httpd/wwwcount-2.4. I also read
the _faq_ but didn't find any answers to my questions. Could someone
give me some advice to rectify this situation?
