When you connect to a share using n/w neighbourhood (share is located on a
linux pc) the username , passwd combos are picked up from /etc/smbusers and
/etc/smbpasswd respectively
But samba working after unsetting netbeui as default protocol is quite
strange
Anyone else on the list can throw some light on this
Is TCP/IP your default protocol ot Netbios ??
Also note that encryption feature should not be turned on .. else the
options security must be = server and a library libdes should be compiled
into samba and encrypt passwords should be turned on
Try man -k smb
u should get all the commands ,files associated with samba

SAMBA can be seen in windows now!
the reason of last error is that in my windows i set NETBEUI as the
default
protocol .When i unset it ,SAMBA is Ok!
There are still some other questions.I can see it in Neighborhood,but when
i
enter,
it prompt me for password, any passwd of my linux account is not ok.
there are some clues: in the /etc/smb.conf :
[global]
security = user
guest = nobody
[tmp]
path = /tmp
public = yes
guest only = yes
