Hi Glynn,
My purpose is not to have real statistics but some data on systems
cracked. I belong to Agril. Res. System of India. The ARS includes around
36 Agril Universities 90 Institutes and 600 ceners. Around 214 are
currently linked with some kind of connectivity. We are in the process of
designing complete kit for each center(includes machine , OS and type of
connectivity). Here I am recomending to have Linux OS at all 800 centers
but venders are trying to force upon that the Linux is not as secure as
Unix or other server. I want to present some statistics. In india recently
Bhaba Atomic Res. Center and one site of Defence was cracked and both did
not had Linux as OS.

No doubt about this statement. Reality is that Linux is being used by
every one including those who can not afford a new system, OS and are not
a computer profesional. I know some nsuch people who purchaed old 486 and
loaded Linux to have latest of every thing and these systems are prone to
be cracked as they know only operational part of it.

May be wenders try to equate hacking as cracking to force their veiw.
With Kind Regards,
Sincerely Yours
