I have a DataRace modem (internal) in my laptop which works, and I have
successfully used the 3Com Etherlink III PCMCIA 33.6 modem/10bT card
(modem and network simultaneously) as well as other USRobotics PCMCIA
cards (specifically the Sportster 28.8). Read up on the PCMCIA
support/config for Linux at
http://hyper.stanford.edu/HyperNews/get/pcmcia/home.html
Good luck!
