Please don't spread misinformation.
Sendmail is an MTA only. Sendmail doesn't do delivery, it does transfer.
That said, anything is possible with sendmail. Simply tell the MDA agent
(normally procmail these days) to deliver to $HOME/xxx/
It's so trivial it's hardly worth spending a moment thinking about it much
less telling someone to go install another smtp agent.
pop3 retrieval is equally simple. Simply (re)compile or configure your
pop3d to use $HOME/xxx/.
