Bridge 'em! Last I knew, Digital was bridging LAT over some of their
internal links, even satellite links, with reasonable success. The timing
windows are on the order of tens of seconds, though of course performance
will become agonizing with delays far short of those that would break the
connection.
It would be nice to see Compaq Digital either publish the LAT spec.s or
act as though they intend to really market it some day. Ditto LAD/LAST,
which never gave me one tenth the headaches of CD*Net or LanCD.
