Hi,
I'm trying to enable other computers to my machine. To this end, I first
installed mgetty and added the following line to /etc/inittab:
S1:2345:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/mgetty ttyS1 -D /dev/ttyS1 -x 9
According to the Linux Dialin Server Setup Guide, that should at least
enable a simple SLIP connection to my machine.
/usr/local/etc/mgetty+sendfax/login.config contains only one line:
* - - /bin/login @
That should allow everybody to log in, right?
What happens if I try to connect with HyperTerminal from a Win95 machine
is this: The Linux machine actually answers the call, but no real
connection is established. Both modems go real frantic and continue to
screech for a while: HyperTerminal eventually times out, but the Linux
machine continues to make those noises until I reset the modem manually.
Is there anything else I have to do? Any advice would be appreciated.
TIA,
Juergen
