I must disagree (unless I misunderstood "not in the spec"). _IPX Router
Specification_, version 1.10, part number 107-000039-001, page 2-5:
There is no broadcast network number (such as FFFFFFFFh)
allowed in IPX. However, a network number of FFFFFFFFh
does have special meaning in some contexts (involving
RIP primarily). Subsequently[sic], networks should not
be assigned this number.
On page 3-4 it shows that the all-ones network number appears in the
interior of IPX RIP packets. It looks as though it is never properly used
in the IPX header, certainly not to mean "all networks". But it is in the
spec -- the spec says, "don't use this".
