I'm trying to use NAT in 2.2.10 to translate to&from a local IP address.
I.e., my machine has a local IP address L and I want to have that appear as
IP address R from the outside, so I say (using the iproute2 toolkit):
ip route add nat R via L
ip rule add prio 300 from L nat R
But that doesn't seem to work. If L is owned by another machine on my
network, it works fine. But if L is local, it doesn't. Is there a trick to
this?
Thanks,
        Thorsten
NB: the reason I want this is so that I can have a daemon bound to port 80
of L and suddenly make it appear as if it were bound to port 80 of R
without touching the daemon. This is for fault-tolerance stuff...
