Hi,
I have a similar problem with Redhat 5.2 only the displacement and
partial repeat of the screen occurs in the vertical direction. I have a
black band at the lower 1/8 of screen. Below this a small portion of the
of a second copy of the screen appears. It looks like vertical sync
problems on a TV screen but it's stationary rather than rolling. I'm
running this on a Gateway 2100 and had to select LCD screen as only option
for video card. My card is:
SOLO2100: Video Controller= Cirrus 7548 with DCI/Direct draw
compatability,
motion video acceleration, continuous X/Y upscaling to 1024 x 768, and
an enhanced Bit-BLT engine. Video Subsystem Interface: 32-bit PCI bus
memory interface.

Monitor frequencies: horiz 38.6, vert 60 Hz

When I try to change the video scanning specs and/or resolution the
installation program keeps changing it back to the ~600 x ~800 values.
What should I try? Thanks for suggestions.
