printer woes -- one more time

when i try to print nothing happens.

dual boot win 98 / RH 6.0
prints fine on win 98

okidata 4w -- this is a win printer.
i found a driver for it at .picante.com and have the driver in
/usr/sbin

when I run printtol as root the port, /dev/lp0, is recognized. when
I run the "print ASCI directly to port" a dialogue box says it is
printing but nothing happens. printer light doesn't flash. printer
doesn't warm up, nothing.
