Aha! I just noticed in my Eterm configuration file (~/.Eterm/themes/MAIN)
that there is an option:
# If true, Eterm will flash rather than sending a beep.
visual_bell off
I don't see a way to turn OFF visual bell from the command line (although
-v turns it on).
