make modules modules_install before using lilo.

Then may i suggest you do that just one more time as you still have done it
wrong.
Or check the archives, i have written many mails on HOWTO compile a kernel,
not only me for that matter, others also MANY times.

It would seem you are booting another kernel version other than;

linux-2.2.10.SuSE
or
2.2.10

cat /proc/cmdline will show the kernel version in use.
Yes so will oher commands like
uname -r
cat /proc/version
