I just started getting this error. It doesn't seem to make any difference as X starts with the same window manager as always. I didn't intentionally change anything but I did install some update rpms including fvwn2-2_0_46-12_i386.rpm and fvmw2-icons-2_0_46- 12_i386.rpm. This was to update RH 5.2. Here is the error message. XFree86 Version 3.3.5 / X Window System (protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6300) Release Date: August 23 1999 If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is newer than the above date, look for a newer version before reporting problems. (see http://www.XFree86.Org/FAQ) Operating System: Linux 2.2.5-22smp i686 [ELF] Configured drivers: SVGA: server for SVGA graphics adaptors (Patchlevel 0): -------------------- Much stuff deleted------------------- WARNING: You selected WindowMaker as your window manager, but your installation of WindowMaker does not appear to be functional. Either /usr/X11R6/bin/wmaker was not found or /usr/share/WindowMaker directory is missing. RESUMING with Fvwm2 (95 look) waiting for X server to shut down The directory is indeed missing. I'm curious as to how I selected WindowMaker as my window manager or where /usr/share/WindowMaker or wmaker went since I didn't have the error message before. Mike
