It sounds to me to be one of the following.
/dev/mouse is linked to /dev/ttyS2 i think this is the reason because you
say it works.
Or something else (Eg, a modem) is on the same irq.
Check that with cat /proc/interrupts.
If one changes comports then the symbolic link for mouse must be changed as
well.
