Hi all

RedHat Linux V6.2 kernel 2.2.14-5.0
Apache V 1.3

Past experience with Apache on SuSE Linux and Solaris systems led me
to believe that ther was a funky script called apachectl that can be used to
start and stop the httpd.

Imagine my delight when I read the following in the Apache docs

:>As of Apache 1.3 we provide a script src/support/apachectl
:>which can be used to start, stop, and restart Apache
Can I find this script on my system. No...
# find / -name apachectl returns zip
There's also a whole load of other stuff that is supposed to be there
according to these docs and the RedHat Linux book (admittedly 6.0)
that I've got. But most of it seems to be missing.
I'm trying to get PHP going on my new RedHat system (without too
much luck at the moment) and every time I want to restart the server I
have to re-boot, which is becoming a bit of a bore.
What is is that _I'm_ missing (apart from a few brain cells).
Cheers
Duncan
