this was a typo, of sorts ^^^^
...just install the parport module.
I meant to say to do:
/sbin/insmod parport
'if I remember correctly.' You may need insmod paride as well.
Check the HOWTO listed below.
I don't usually bother with modprobe, but that's
another way to do it--you wouldn't need to do insmod.
