I see this bug too, it is present at md version distributed with
kernel v2.2.1 and also at latest raid0145-19990128-2.2.0.

Any ideas how to debug it, or which part of kernel is responsible?

The version at kernel seems to kill random program, but latest
kills only bonnie, dd or whatever makes heavy writing.
