Hi all,

I am rather new to raid, and SCSI in general actually. a local computer
retailer is selling an adaptec PCI 3970 dual u2w raid controler and I am
wondering how difficult this is to setup with Linux. I found no reference
to Adaptec raid in the raid-howto so am hoping someone here will know the
following:
1) Does the 2.2.x kernel itself support the drive.
2) What os does the Raid stuff run under? E.G. If I wanted to add or
remove a drive or add another channel etc, would I need Windows or would a
DOS system disk work? Does the software fit on a single floppy and is
there any Linux based software to do this?
3) Does the Adaptec software support ext2? I am going to be starting with
two harddrives but would like the ability to extend the fs when necessary.
4) When using hardware raid, do the drives have to be the same size as in
the case of software raid?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and my appologies if this has been
asked in the past.
