I tried 2.2.40pre4 with the RAID patch as well. Boot support doesn't compile
and neither does RAID5 support. With those disabled I was able to compile the
kernel and boot a system (IDE though).

But the kernel was shaky as h*ll :)

Swap partitions didn't work, swap-files did ``sort-of''. Processes was killed
with OOM etc. etc. All in all not a very pleasing experience.

I guess one should either just try out new kernel patches (.41pre etc.) or take
the time it takes to help development and bugfixing. I hadn't expected the .40
kernels to be that shaky (I ran late .3X kernels with a fair amount of success)
but somehow there's been a lot of changes lately needing testing a fixing. It's
probably all for the best, this way we won't get unoccupied and hang around the
street corners selling crack and stuff ;)

Seriously though, there's a lot of interesting testing fixing to be done. I
underestimated that when I asked people to just give the RAID patch a lot of
testing. My bummer, I should have tested it myself before asking others.

Cheers all,
