D'oh!  Are you sure that you have the device entries correct?  The only
times that I've had this error message from fdisk, I've been trying to
partition a drive that wasn't really there (like /dev/hdq), or when I'd done
something like 'fdisk /dev/sda3' which also doesn't work,
