Hmm. Well, I mentioned this because I did the HP changer support for Legato
some years back, but the general idea here is that if you have two sided
media, you need to use the Invert bit to flip the media as you move it from a
STorage element to a Data Transport element- insofar as I recall. I don't have
any HP SCSI documentation. It seems to me that all I recall was standard
SCSI-2 compliance, but one special mode select page that would change the
device type of the DT element to or from DIRECT ACCESS to OPTICAL MEMORY.
The open adherence to standards and disclosure of levels of conformance to
standards even as loose as SCSI seems to be losing credence amongst the
hardware manufacturers. There are many reasons for this I'm sure- some
understandable, some sane, and some just plain dishonourable.
